Apple Hill Farm by Kids Quilts

apples18

Rachael’s home near Wanaka in New Zealand’s South Island is neighbored by a farm, which is what inspired the mother-daughter duo to choose apples as their theme for their next line. Christine’s daily foraging for wild apples with her grandchildren inspired her to infuse the line with apple trees and apples, and she spared no design.

Baking butter croissants with my niece when she was 2 1/2! Now we make pizza from scratch – she’s 9 now. She rolls her own crust and tops it with sauce, cheese and mushrooms.

Baking cookies with my son was fun. He now does it with his 3 yr old son!
I also really enjoyed grabbing a McDonald’s dinner and going to the park to play with him after work.

My favorite thing to do when my boys were little was making sandcastles at the beach and fogging in the sand with them.

My grandbabies are 3, 1 1/2 and 3 weeks. We love Friday night milkshakes then “camping out” at Grams, baking then licking the bowl and spoon, running through the sprinklers then jumping into the pool, jumping in rain puddles, splashing through the creek looking for fish and crawdads, chasing each other around the trees in the yard and my favorite….creating quilts together!!!

Oh, I just love these memories of when my children were little and we would visit the apple orchard and cider mill. We would go on a weekday and practically have the place to ourselves. The children would play in the toddler size playground, choose a donut, then we would sit out under the apple trees and enjoy our cider and donuts. With the bees. 😊. By next year, our grandson will be old enough to visit the cider mill with us. Yay!

When our kids were little (4, 6, 8, and 10) we used to travel to see grandma and grandpa on their farm in Southern Alberta, Canada. They loved seeing the different life with animals, large machines, and bountiful gardens. The girls would help grandma in the kitchen – there were always things cooking or preparations for the next meal. The boys were taken in by the feeding of animals and the large machines. We loved going too, as it was a vacation from Urban life. They learnt so many things about farm life (as did I) but the day I remember without a doubt, is the day we were all weeding in the garden.
We were pulling, the little ones were gathering, and grandma was watering with the large can. Our oldest asked grandma what she was pouring into the water. Grandma replied, ‘fish fertilizer’. Our daughter looked into the water and ask “are we growing fish too?’ It was such a great day. Loved our trips to the farm.

I love to sew and anything crafty, but if it is something with my family I would have to say cooking, hiking, picking berries and apples…. and also making candles with our honey bees beeswax and filling the honey jars with the hubby. Anything outside is really grand as well.

When my Daughter was little, she was 4, when we started baking bread together! She even had some small pans of her own. Was great fun…and she still bakes to this day! 🙂 I have been teaching my Grangirlie to sew now, and she is very interested in learning to crochet & embroider! She is 8 now…and a very crafty minded girl…we share many “Heart Memories” making Moments together. 🙂

Thanks for chance to win your Give-a-way too 🙂

Seeing those sweet photos of the kids above reminded me of my own two when they were toddlers. We often had a picnic in the backyard under the trees during the summer. I’d pack our lunch with drinks and my favorite old quilt and we made such wonderful memories!

Oh I love the toddler years! Whether it’s picking berries, throwing rocks in the creek or sitting on the porch playing in the sandbox, toddler’s have a way of breathing fresh life into everything! Everything is NEW in their eyes and if you slow down and get down on their level, it can help you to see things in a delightful, almost magical way as well! Thanks for this chance! I adore this fabric collection and know that the toddler in my home right now would be NUTS for that tractor print! 🙂
