Hi all! My name is Jennifer, I’m the person behind the screen bringing you news on all things RJR and I’m happy to introduce a new segment on our blog called, “Sew Lately…” A better way to show everyone the exciting things going on with us! Be sure to subscribe to our blog so you won’t miss any exciting news!

So lately here at RJR we took a peak inside the RJR art studio where the creative duo behind Flaurie & Finch, Linda Fitch and Vanessa Stevens are hard at work on their quilt, Daisy Day Dream which features Blossom Batiks.

DaisyDayDream

Vanessa shares, “We decided to kick off the Flaurie & Finch brand with a line of batik fabrics. Linda and I love to design batiks because of the range and depth of color that is achievable, and since they are hand dyed in Indonesia, every piece is uniquely special”.

BlossomB5

This entire collection can coordinate together or can be split into five distinct color groupings: Bella Vita, Tiger Lily, Blue Bonnet, Freesia, and Starling. As you can see from the Daisy Day Dream quilt Vanessa is working on the color variations work beautifully together!

I particularly love batiks and having color groups that successfully mix and match is even better. I really love the black and white since any bright color mixed with it is especially striking. Thanks for this chance to win.

I saw your Daydream (Daisy Daydream) quilt on the Hancock’s of Paducah website. I was immediately struck by all the rich, bright colors of the batiks and the use of black/white batiks for the daisy petals. The kit and the prints were all out of stock, likely because of the show they just had. Disappointed, but not down and out, I went on a web quest to see if I could find the fabric. I found a few pieces carried at different websites, but was hoping to find a place where I could order all the different batiks for the quilt. And that is because I sent a picture to my Mom (also a quilter) earlier this morning and asked her if she would like to make this quilt together. She just turned 89 and still enjoys piecing and quilting, even though arthritis in her hands has slowed her down a bit. She is very good to completely finish her quilts, hand quilting with beautiful, even stitches. I, on the other hand, finish a top and then I’m off to the races on the next top. I don’t especially like the quilting part. Opps, I digress. My plan when I found this web site was to leave a comment to tell you how much I like the Daydream pattern, and especially all the beautiful batiks to use in making it. My husband claims I get “mesmerized” by fabric, and so far, I haven’t been able to dispute his claim. With a lot of quilt patterns, I “uh and ah” over them, but with this one, I just about started to salivate!!! I could not tear my eyes away from the computer screen. I would look at the fabrics in one area of the quilt, then move on to absorb the colors and prints in another area. What a wonderful experience to just drink in the colors. Well, now that I’ve “bent your ear” so to speak, I’ll stop by saying thank you, thank you, thank you for such beautiful batiks and the pattern you used with it. I have already checked out the other patterns you have on this web site. I definitely look forward to seeing your future fabrics and patterns. Keep up the good work!!!
