First Love Quilt with Lynette Anderson

Lynette Anderson's First Love Quilt

Lynette Anderson’s first quilt was using the English paper piecing method, which fit closely with her love for patchwork. Here at RJR, we asked her, along with out other designers, about their first love quilt #quiltwithlove, and she found the original quilt safe in her linen cupboard! Here she has her newborn son pictured with the quilt. Make sure to head on over to her blog for loving story about her son and the quilt.

Lynette Anderson's First Born and First Quilt

Lynette took the inspiration for her first quilt and designed this lovely crib quilt, along with stitchery design using her Bread and Butter collection. The free pattern is available on her website for download.

Vintage Made Modern by Amy Barickman

Vintage Made Modern – that’s Amy Barickman’s mantra. Amy, who founded the pattern company Indygo Junction in 1990, has collaborated with designers to produce and market an impressive list of patterns and book releases, having released over 1200 pattern titles and published 80 books, including recent releases Indygo Junction’s Fabric Flowers, Indygo Junction’s Dimensional Denim and The Magic Pattern Book. From fashion patterns to practical quilted projects, Indygo Junction offers a wealth of inspiration to those who love to work with needle and thread.

Amy is an avid collector of vintage sewing and fashion materials. Fabric, sewing patterns, needlework catalogs and the works of the Woman’s Institute for Domestic Arts & Sciences are found in her vintage library.

If those books could talk, what could they teach us? A lot! Amy has found a myriad of sewing lessons from years past which are still relevant to modern sewists today. Many of these tips have been lost for years, but Amy thinks by looking to the past we can move our craft forward.
